Remembrance day speeches response

First off, my thoughts on General Romeo Dallaire's speech at school.

His speech was good, talking to everyone (the students) at a much more personal level then what  most of us have seen and heard. He hopes that mankind will achieve peace, with a huge help of our generation that he calls "The Global Citizens". That statement is fairly accurate due to our knowledge of advancing technology and social media. And I agree with him and hope as well on the most part but one area, which is the peace itself. 

Within the last two centuries, major wars have been less frequent on a global level due to every nation being connected in some aspect of economics. If a world war were to break out, both sides would be losing certain resources that the nation has become dependent on through imports, and a part of their funds through exports. To keep this short, there would be little to almost no gain to conqueror other nations. From what I can understand about humanity at this point, is that there will always be conflict on some sort in some part of the world. If you were to see these conflicts as not peace, then there never will be. Most of the conflicts in the last century are more so of regional conflict at it's core, or where it started with at least. If someone were to call these conflicts as something else other then a "war", then that could mean we are already in a age of peace, or at the very lest, some limited degree of peace and we just need to maintain it more thoroughly.  

This is just my understanding and view of the world and humanity at this point of time, so things will change over time just as people do.

Moving onto the Guelph's Remembrance day service, on the topic of Dr. Bill Winegarde's speech on veterans with Post Traumatic Stress.

I side with him on the government's treatment for veterans, but I honestly think it'll be hard to change the government's thoughts on how veterans are doing today unless it hits them hard in the face. Judging from what Dr. Winegard said in the speech, they weren't paid with too much of a serious tone from MPs.

The monopoly of Halloween

Halloween to me right now is commercialism by the candy and costume industry. From what I can see that's mostly common with the average person, is that they buy their Halloween costume and one or two boxes of assorted candy. Most mass produced costumes are mostly sold with cheap material sold at high prices in comparison to the cost of creating them. The same can be said with almost all candy companies with their products as well. The average person will often decide to buy a new costume every year, thus the sales being made will retain a good percentage of customers from the previous year. Halloween costumes are, at it's core, one time use outfits to wear at a single afternoon out of the year. The costume age ranges span to almost to any age, being the simple infant pumpkin kid, to a M rated nurse costume for adults.  On that note, costumes are also begging to have more of a sexual appearance at any age, perhaps due to social media and other similar factors affecting it. There's already some sketchy outfits for kids that are on the line of  obscene profanity, just about mature shows or subjects.  I think there needs to be some sort of public concern about what we're shoving kids into, and even if they're aware of the morale and source of the costume.

What is poetry to you?

What is poetry to you? What have you learned from writing it?

Poetry to me is when someone wants to express something at a certain time, of what they feel or someone else feels. Poetry can be almost anything, to a love letter, a farewell card, or a thought process of comprehending the universe of everything. 

One of the things that I've noticed is that poetry needs a strong passion or feeling to write with. Sometimes there's a clear idea of what's at the end, or perhaps something blurred to keep you thinking.

Educational Expecations

How can you, as the manager of your own education, ensure that school assignments meet your needs? Is there are way to meet the instructor's expectations, while also following your own interests?

Time management is an important skill to have, to be able to have the time set aside to work on assignments. You can add your own relevant twist whilst meeting the instructor's expectations. Using as Writer's craft as an example, you can write about certain subjects or themes that you like or enjoy and apply them to the course work.

This quotation holds a skill that I've wanted to do for awhile since I started writing as a odd hobby of mine. To be able to write without the need to explain  to those reading, is how I see this. I often have to explain things, even to myself sometimes, to understand most of the things I write.

It's been awhile since I've seen ya. It's been about a year and a half since you've gone overseas, feels like it's been longer though. Even though we've only known each other for about two years, the time that was spent was pretty meaningful to me. You've helped me with a lot of things, and I've helped you with other things as well, Homework, random homework, game economics, it was always something that one of us didn't know and the other did. I still miss the fun times how we got into each other's head, figuring out what would the other would say in a situation and playing games with some of the people from the guild. Still can "hear" your voice to some extent, even though it's been forever. Well, even though the time we had was kind of shorter then I'd like, it's still better then none at all. So, thanks for being there.

"banned" books response

I honestly think that all books should be acceptable, and going by one of the writer's comments on the topic, "if you don't like it, just don't read it." To me, there isn't a definite line, but rather there should be  at the very least, a clear warning depending on the contents. More touchy or controversial subjects will need more control of some sort to make sure it's contents are used responsibly. The people reading these kinds of literature should have a solid foundation of knowledge of the subject, good judgement, and a open mind to understand the writer's perspective.

My name is Anh, a indoor kind of guy who mostly plays video games in my spare time.

I play guitar and the electric bass, and sometimes write short stories out of extreme boredom or passion. Usually the boredom reason at most times.

Not too much more to it that I can think of right now.

In response to the The Key to Success, Grit, and how it relates to me personally...

I can agree that perseverance and the ability to learn from losses can get you a long way. When I find myself stuck at a certain point in a game and lose, I would rage for a minute or two then figure out what I did wrong. Then I return to the last save data and try to prepare for the challenge from last time, and take another whack at the event.

Even if that attempt fails, reload last save, prepare even more so than the previous attempt, and try to power through it. And even if the third try fails, try again with a different kind of attitude to it. In the end, the more you try, the bigger satisfaction it becomes. And once you're through, you'll never have to deal with that stupid boss again.

But there are times when quest requirement tells you've need to do something five times over and over again, which makes you cringe slightly in pain.

The same mindset can be extremely successful if applied properly in real life situations. This tactic can get you pretty far in life if you're able to.

Might even beat the beat the dumb game after a while.
